1998 Mustang Gt Instrument cluster swap
Hi,
I was hoping someone here could provide me with some assistance. My plastic wafer card on the back of instrument cluster had a few blown copper lines. I tried the recommended fix of carefully painting new lines with window defogger repair kit. It worked for awhile but after 2 years it has stopped working. So I tried to find a new replacement housing that would include the plastic wafer circuit card but to no avail. So I went on eBay and ordered a instrument cluster advertised as being able to work on the 98 mustang gt. Well when I got it home I noticed a few differences.
mine is a green on the back and the other is a off yellow not that the color actually has anything to do with besides to signify they are different.
so my part number on the back is F8ZF-10C956-BA
and the middle of it says 43-01171-D rev 6
the one from eBay has F6ZF-10C956-BB and the middle has 43-01171-B rev 3
also noticed the f6zf board is does not have a few zenor diodes and a couple of resistors
so big question is will this work in my car and not cause any issues? The slosh circuit and low violent cards look the same by design.
any help is greatly appreciated

if you go here they have links to pdf’s on what wires need to be swapped and how to de-pin and re-pin
so I guess this 1997 cluster can be used in a 98 but two wires have to be swapped
Note that 98 clusters can be used in 96-97 cars and vice versa, but if you do swap across those years, you must swap pins C250-14 and C250-15 in the car's wiring harness in order to make it work. 96-98 clusters can be used in 94-95 cars and vice versa, but you will need to swap all of the different pins described above to get it to work.
