1996 GT blowing EEC fuses
Was driving home yesterday and my 96 GT just randomly cut out in the middle of the freeway. Got it pushed off to the side and immediately checked the fuses to find the EEC fuse was blown. Got a ride to the local AZ and grabbed a couple of those 20A Maxi fuses. After installing one and attempting to start it I rechecked it and saw that it had blown again. Took a closer look and noticed the negative terminal had nearly corroded off so I replaced it with one I had and tried again only to pop that fuse too. It was getting late and I was running out of options so I tried using a spare 30A I had and it fired right up. Limped it home and parked it, left it running and I noticed the fuel pump making a lot more noise than usual. Turned it off and came back to it today, i replaced that 30A with a 20A and turned over just fine. The fuel pump also sounded Louder than usual but it kicked on normally. I’ve checked all the upper engine wires for shorts and missing insulation and found nothing. The only thing I’ve done on it lately was replace the cooling fan unit. Any ideas about this?
