Hurst Short Throw question
Alright, so I just installed my hurst short throw the other day and I've noticed while driving that it rattles a bit when in any gear, sounds like metal on metal, anyone else having that sound and know how to shut it up?

RE: Hurst Short Throw question
I don't have a rattle, but I get some noise through the shifter, not really to the degree that it a problem. I think teh harder bushings in teh linkage are transmitting some of teh noise up through the shifter arm.
I look at it as a small price to pay for the performance and preciseaction of teh shifter. You might try raising the ribber bushing up higher on teh shifter arm.
I also have Borla's on the car, so there is extra noise anyway.
I don't know if there is much you can do. You might get under the car and make sure the linkage is not rest up against anything, thus transmitting teh noise up tot he shift arm.
You could always turn the radio up...lol.
Seriously try not to dwell on it, things like that will drive you nuts.

RE: Hurst Short Throw question
Look at the date on the bottom of your directions. If they are dated 12/05 then they are the correct installation instructions. If they aren't, then I can scan my set for you (if I can find them). There was a thread a while back that dealt with this problem.
Since you said that its a metal on metal sound, I am going to guess that will fix your problem.
Hope this helps!

I fiddled around with mine today, and by moving the grommet on the boot up, the noise stopped.
I'm interested in the instruction thread on this and what others found out.

No rattle here, but i've not had it on long enough to really test it. I would double check everything if I were you. there ain't much that could rattle on the thing so it has to be the body of the shifter contacting metal somewhere. A you sure you didn't knock loose a heat shield while under the car?

RE: Hurst Short Throw question
after about a week, my hurst got really wobbly. I could wiggle it up and down when in gear. no rattle, but I could definitely tell it was loose.
anyway, pulled of the boot and dust sheild and noticed the screws were a bit loose. tightened 'em up with an allen wrench and everything was fine.
worth a quick look.
