Default Is it possible that my clutch pack problem is just going away?

Yes, I have the notorious clutch pack noise problem. It was really bad when I first bought the car two months ago, and I've been putting off a trip to the dealer to get it fixed. I've just passed 2,000 miles and I've noticed that I don't hear it nearly as much as I used to. I can still hear it if I listen and if I make a serious attempt to get it to act up, but is there just a chance that maybe this is just a break-in problem all along?

my mark VII posi clutches were chattering, added a bottle of 'friction modifier', went away- that was like 6-7 years ago...as they only slip when cornering, maybe add some additive, drive in a tight circle for a few minutes to heat them up a little/work some oil in there, see what happens... I'd be leery of having mine tore down too unless really 'broken'...fear of more damage from the 'fix'. good luck with it

The car is NEW.. let the dealer fix it.. only 2,000 miles .. you shouldn't have to add anything IMHO..

let the dealer fix it.. plus if it breaks later on .. you have a record that you complained about it..

(the problem)

I agree that if it is in fact a problem, it's on the dealer, but if it's just a break in noise and nothing that is more than that, I'd just prefer not to mess with it. I'm reluctant to take my car in for a non-issue because 1) It's a hassle and 2) I've heard horror stories about how the pit crew at the dealership shop treats the cars testing them out. I'm liable to have more wrong with my car then when I took it in. Yes, it shouldn't be that way, and yes, I should man up and make them get it right, but bringing my car home without a rear end noise is a minor victory if some jackass has been doing donuts in my car or rips the seat or bangs up the door. I don't want another battle.

Take it in. Chances are, if it's making noise, something is wearing that shouldn't be.
