Default RE: Is a pro chamber worth it? What does it do?

Let me preface this by saying that I haven't ever installed or used a Prochamber. However, it looks to me like a gimmicky product. I am also left scratching my head as to exactly what the heck it is supposed to do.

Best I can figure is it is something like an H/X-pipe, just with a different sound to it.

Regardless of sound, an X-pipe does have a slight HP advantage over an H-pipe. I doubt it makes a difference at stockish HP levels, but if you plan on doing some more serious mods later (turbo, blower, head work...) then you might see a few more HP out of the X. Of course, X and H pipes do sound different.

Everyone that I know that is serious about HP runs longtubes and an X-pipe.

Prochambers are very popular and one of Mac's signature products. These have been around for years and it is a mix between a H and X pipe. Typically they have a very distinct sound to them. As far as power, they are right on par with any other mid-pipe. I would never try and tell a customer otherwise. If you are interested let me know and I can cut a good deal on them as we are a Mac Direct Dealer.

You mentioned that about the doubt at stockish hp level. CnL/udp's/93 oct from Brenspeed. Dont know if you feel I fall into the stockish hp or not.
Yeah, you are definatley at stockish HP. Sorry I wasn't clear. What I meant was that I don't think an "X" will have a clear advantage to others unless you have serious mods to the engine itself, so that you are running a lot more airflow through it. That means things like major headwork, cams, a supercharger or turbo, or nitrous.

If you are pushing 500 HP then you'd start to see a difference....
