What is the difference between 05+4.6 and the older 4.6?

What is the difference between 05+4.6 and the older 4.6?

Just wondering what the diff is between the two engines? What was the 04 and earlier 4.6 rated at? First Mustang since 89, just getting caught up...

one is a 2V and one is a 3v, the new edge SN-95s (99-04s with the 2V) are rated at 260/302, the s197s (05-07 3V) are rated at 300/305

I had no idea how sweet an engine this 4.6 is.......Will 'tweek' it a bit and make it sweeter

One correction. The 05-07 are rated at 300/325 not 300/305. That's 300 HP and 325 TQ.

The 05-07's also use VCT(variable cam timing).

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe our S197 4.6 is a single overhead cam, where the older ones are duel OHC as well. (More moving parts!).
