Default t-5 or t-3650

So, i used to have a mach 1 that had a t-3650, it was junk. the sychros grinded all the time. so i had it rebuilt.... then it did it agian. well eventually i got rid of it because i wanted to get into a 2007 gt so i heard that there was a t-5 in it. being excited i bought the car and i love it. Until i read in the owners manual and it shows that my code shows a t-3650. which makes me think. With the mach 1 there were so many problems with the trans. Are there any problems with the new GT's with the 3650's like grinding in second and stuff???

thanks alot
will

Only the V-6s have a T-5. I haven't heard of any S197 owners having issues TR-3650. I don't race my car every weekend but they seem to hold up well till around 450-500hp or at least in that ball park. The main issue with shifting in the S197s is the fact that the shifter is mounted to the body and alot of people have trouble getting into 3rd at WOT. This can be alleviated through a better shifter, CHE's torque limiters, or possibly stiffer motor mounts. I'm sure someone will help fill any holes I missed here.

That's odd on the t-3650 rebuild, if they set clearances correctly it should have been ok. As far as the T-5 goes I've had some blocker ring (synchro) problems with them from the factory. Also I wasn't impressed with the quality of the factory parts that I received for the rebuild, but after rebuilding they worked fine. I think Ford considered the T5 a bit underrated for the new mustangs torque.
