Detroit Truetrac anyone running one?
Anyone running one of these in the rear...was going to have my gears redone and thinking about swapping out the stock posi unit with one of these while the shop had it apart....what are your thoughts on them for everyday driving...noise, vibrations, squeeling around corners??? my rear has the TSB rearend whine around corners now but since i swapped gears I highly doubt they would fix it...sooooo that is why i thought about the truetrac...

i know a couple of people running em on the site, and i know a few people running them even though i dont believe anyone is running them in a stang, basically, they use gears instead of clutches so its alot stronger LSD, well worth the money if you beat the **** out of your car

I'm running one. I did exactly what you were contemplating-- while I had the rear end apart for gears, I swapped in the Truetrac.
There's two main benefits:
First off, it's a lot stronger than the OEM diff, which is nice if you're planning on FI in the future.
Second, it's a lot better of aLSD than the stocker is. The truetrac is gear driven, so there are no clutches to wear out, and the bias ratio is higher. You will feel the improved traction the first time you power through a corner. It's totally silent, no vibration or squealing.

I am also running the tru-trac. I did just what you are contemplating and installed it when I did my gears. I have not noticed any difference in daily driving as far as NVH is concerned. The traction is very positive at launch and I don’t have to worry about one wheel not getting the same power as the other. The only thing I would recommend is be careful if you get on it in a turn as even in a turn it will drive both wheels equally and if you hit anything slick it will get interesting.

ok sounds good to me....i think i might just add it to my christmass list .......although i am not concerned about corners just hoping it might get better straight line traction

I took my 06 tothe dealership the other to complain about the noisy rear end. The mechanic is going to replace the clutch pack and the gears with FRPP 4.10's. He said he would get Ford to cover the whole thing. I just have to remove some "items" before bringing it in.
Guess I can't complain for getting free gears.
How was mileage and drivability changed with 4.10 gears?

They may or may not touch it. I found that it depends on the dealer and also the mechanic. My mechanic knew I was running nitrous and told me to make sure he couldn't see it when he worked on it. It should only take 30 minutes or so to remove it from the car no big deal and well worth the price of gears, clutch pack, install kit and labor.
A couple other guys I know have said their rearends/differentials get a little noisy when it warms up. I'm looking forward for racing to start up again so I can run my car.

drivetrainspecialists.com has them, i would also recomend a TA girdle, it isnt needed but will make the rear alot stronger and you wont have to worry about the rear end, infact, you will have to buy a forged short block before you upgrade it again
