No, at the moment there are NO aftermarket intake manifolds for our cars. FAST is coming out with one in the near future, but it is plastic, like the OEM one is.

If you don't mind me asking, why on earth would you want an aluminum one? The plastic design is much better. It's lighter, has smoother surfaces inside, and it doesn't conduct heat into the intake charge like aluminum manifolds do.

I wasn't going to mention custom stuff like this, but sure, if you want it and you've got the big $$$ then the sky's the limit! That Hogan's unit looks sweet....

my dad just bought a TIG welder for the shop.......[sm=happy046.gif]
we all need to practice on it. guess what i'm going to make?
i've got pics of that intake from every angle and a friend CNC-ing the t/b plate, runner radius platesand head flanges. i'm not sure if it will help this stock 3V but once the new stroker is done it should really help that engine out. even if it's not worth any power it will look cool as ****. and if i ever want to go with any kind of F.I. i will have no worries of breaking the stock plastic intake.

The real trick is going to be figuring out the proper length for the intake runners and the volume of the plenum. Fabrication will be easy compared to that part!

I have several books on the subject and an ME degree and I still find that task unbeliveably daunting. Welding it up? No problem. But knowing what shapes to make is the hard part. Do share what you find out.

i'm just going to try my best to recreate the hogans. i have a book that discusses briefly the three types of resonance wave pressure thingys and has some pretty deep theories involved.....uh yeah. i figure it has to be better than a stock intake(for a built motor) and more consistant than a cast intake. i saw this VRI intake in that SA book (it was also in an old issue of MM&FF) for a 2V engine that was really neat and did incorporate all of those super technical theories. it worked really well. the engine was a mild 2V with cams and ported heads. it made 490hp with their intake and like 420hp with the stock plastic PI intake. it also gained power all across the rpm range not just peak or above 6000rpms like most aftermarket EFI intakes. it will be good welding practice anyway.

will a bad intake gasket cause, pressure to build up in the cooling system of my 96 mustang gt, and cause coolant to overflow from the reservoir pressure cap? thanks
