Default Is it worth it?

I read the article in the article in the 5.0 Mustang magazine a while ago in which they compared 12 CAI's. I have a K&N with an SCT 2 (87, 91, 93 octane) from Brenspeed. In the article, the JLT won hands down. Is it worth it for me to switch to a JLT? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

If you have the tuner already, I would say go for it. I went C&L kind of wish I went JLT, as I don't see any benefit to the C&L for me, and the JLT is probably lighter by quite a bit.

The difference between the JLT and C&L is not much at all. There shouldnt be a "benefit" to either of them really.

I was under the impression the JTL adds I think 1-2 more HP, plus I figure it's plastic, so weighs probably 5lbs less. Only advantage the C&L had was the ability to run nitrous. I could be wrong, but since I don't need nitrous, the JTL would have been better for me. C&L might have heat advantage too.

yeah 1-2 HP but a dynos error is more than that and you wouldnt feel that difference. It might be slightly less in weight but again not enough to matter.

c&l makes a racer cai which is made of plastic tubing...then their is the street/strip cai(which is what i have) that allows u to run NOS, a s/c, or turbo. the racer cai is like $250...i think

my opinion ...NO. $200 for 5 pounds and 1-2hp. any cai + tune will give similar results. it is the diameter of the pipe that is causing less restriction on the airflow and the tune that are the key factors in the increased performance. so if you already have the cai + a tune I would stay where you are, unless you are that nit picky or you just got the money to blow, even then I would use it on something else.

I've been doing alot of thinking on this myself, and I am starting to waver on the whole "replace the tube" idea... Filter, Hell yeah, all about putting on an open air filter with a nice sheild and ditching the stock restrictive box... However, I've seen too many tests that show just a filter on the stock tube with a tune giving within 3 to 5 hp and ft/lbs of the full replacements. FRPP's CAI uses the stock tube and gets 20 to 22 on a factory tune. Steeda originally only did the same setup, but when they replaced the tube, they only got like 4 more hp. Plus, of all the one's to use an S&B filter setup, they are all dynoing really closely with the numbers.

Now, chances are simply because of cost, I'll be doing a JLT II or a Demolet... but I can't help but wonder is the wave of tube replacements are just "show", or really have some "go".
