Also ive had traction control cut me off going into 3rd recently. usually when I down shift at 65-70 on the highway traction control will cut me off there too.
Does your T/C light come on when that happens? If not, then your fuel pump may be causing it. There's a TSB for that problem.
Mine was doing the same thing. The dealer replaced the fuel pump, and the problem was gone.

the T/C light on the instrument cluster? That one doesnt come on.

BUt when I down shift and punch it my car wont go at all until I take my foot of the gas and then get back in it. When I turn the T/C off it wont do it though.

Your auto tranny "chirping" the tires in 2nd comes from how hard the trans is setup toshift not how much power the engine is making. You don't need a lot of power for this, you just need to setup the trans to do so. Cars from the factory are made to shift smoothly as the general public would consider a hard shifting, tire chirping transshifting abruptly and think something's wrong. Actually, the smoothness in an auto is more harmful to an autothan the hard quick shifts.

most people can chirp 2nd stock no problem...I havent driven that many autos but my guess is the reason you can do it is becuase you are higher in the torq band than you are from a dead stop....

true; thats a good thought. also, heres my theory. taking off from a stop, you don't have the "shock," even with a tune the throttle doesn't "snap" open; the 1-2 shift often brings a hard shock that breaks the tires loose. thats why its just a "chirp" and not a spin.

Isn't it funny how half theposts are abouttrying to achieve traction while the other half are about how to break traction on purpose?
