Some mods - Need advice
First let me say I'm new to the forum, but not to cars. However, this is the first Ford Mustang GT I've had the pleasure of owning (I've been a truck kinda guy heh).
Alright with that out of the way, I need some advice!
I was thinking on going with the C&L CAI w/ SCT 2 tuner, Corsa Exhaust, some kinda camshaft (input advice here), ud pulleys (again a good brand you guys have luck with would be a big help), and maybe a new set of gears (thinking of the 4.10s, however I usually do a lot of regular street driving with the occasional street race).
For the cam I was going to go with the one Brenspeed offers and for pulleys I was going with steeda... I really just want to know if you guys have any good things to say about em... I've pretty much scoured these forums and that's how I've come up with my current set of mods.

RE: Some mods - Need advice
hehe you pop the question and answer yourself.
+1 On the C&A CAI
+1 Steeda UD
+1 Brenspeed although I dont know much about cams for this cars.
I'd say 3.73 gears would be the best compromise if you do a lot of street driving but some people would hang me for saying this.
If your budget allows, forced induction will give you far more performance than all the above mods together while keeping your stock driveability.

NOS will always destroy your engine in the long run tho right? I mean you are talking about that when you say force induction right?
EDIT: Although I guess that could mean superchargers and turbos heh... But then again those also wear your stock parts down over time.

Right, forced induction means super or turbo chargers.
Your driving and maintenancehabits is what will determine how long your engine/drivetrain is going to last, for example if you take your stock car to the race track every weekend, you'll destroy it way before a normaly-driven-every-now-and-then-abused supercharged car, however under the same conditions a FI engine is supposed to give up earlier than stock.
I put 150000 miles on a supercharged 92 Bronco, with no issues and I dont drive exactly like grandma, everything is relative.
My advice would be not to rush any decision, take your time to read through the forums, you'll find a wealth of information and many different opinions that will help you take the right decission (or get you confused lol) butthat is part of the fun.
Oh and dont be afraid to ask, most people here will be happy to help you out, try posting on the 05-07 -V8 section, is more visited thatn this one and you'll get more feedback even when this is supposed to be the right place, oh and take no offense if you ask a question and some peeps ask you to read the forums, we all have bad days every now and then.[8D]

I went with the Steeda CIA with SCT tune, underdrive pulleys and CMCV delete plates (stock exahust). On the JBA dyno the car pulled 312 RWHP and 328 RWTQ (see graph below). I also went with FRPP 4.10's along with a bunch of suspension upgrades.
Here is my thoughts on cams, not worth it. The results I have seen posted here have not been very good. Most ended up with poor low end torque which in not good for the street (unless you plan on taching it up to 5 grand every time you leave a stoplight).I grew up in the 60's and 70's so I live through therough idle and low vacuum, whowants that for the street anyway (new camsdo have better grinds). Check out thetorque curve on the attached graph, 80% of peak torque from 1900 rpms to 6,000 rpms. With the 4.10's and a 5 speed it is a blastbetween lights(if you have an automatic go with the 3.73's).
If you go with a forced induction system you should upgrade the rods at minimum, (I would also upgrade the pistons, rings, wrist pins, crankshaft, bearings and fasteners)as the rods are powdered. These rods have excellent longevity in stock engines, but for anything with more than 450 hp they really need to be upgraded.
Nitrous, no way for me. I figure nitrous works great 99 times out of 100, but it only takes one bad knock to blow up an engine.
Check out the Steeda Torch Red Q. Steeda reports ET's of 12.72 on drag radials and road race suspension with just their CIA, SCT tune, underdrive pulleys, CMCV plates, 4.10's and axle backs. I have basically built the same car and I can tell you the parts work really well. The list of cars I have taken down with my lowly Mustang is a who's, who, of the fastest cars available in stock production today.
Good Luck:

RE: Some mods - Need advice
I decided against the cam.. I'm just used to upgrading trucks heh....
With your 4.10 gears how much top end speed are you losing?(if any)...
My goal is to upgrade my car without forced induction (whether it be nos, sc, turbo, etc).... I really want it to jerk me back into the seat a little more.
Again guys... Thanks for your help.

If you Google "gear ratio calculator" youwill find sites where you canestimate your top speed based on your transmissions ratios, ring and pinion ratio and tire size. Here are the basics. I have a5 speed manual so I have the transmission ratios for it (I don't remember the ratiosfor automatics). First 3.37, second 1.99, third 1.33, forth 1.00 and fifth .68 (I think overdrive in the automatic is .72). Tire diameter in inches for 235/50/18's is 27.25. I used 6000 rpm's as my max rpm's. With a 3.55 gear ratio, 6000 rpm’s in fifth equals202 mph, with a 4.10 axle ratioitequals 174mph. I don't think our Mustang's have a chance of seeing speeds anywhere near these, so I would saya 4.10 might actually increase your top speedsince they will put youhigher into your power band at speed. The fastest I have taken my Mustang since the 4.10 install was 6000 rpm's in forth, butI am surethere is plenty of pulling power left in fifth. 5000 rpm's in fifth with the 4.10 gear equals 145 mph with a 5 speed and stock tire size.
Best Regards
