couple questions about shifting and tranny.
hi im new to the site but not to mustangs. i had a 91 5.0 for 6 years and know the car inside out. i bought a new 07 gt in may and have 3,700 miles on it and took it to the track. i ran 14.24 @ 99.59. now i know that is way too slow for stock. i was shiftin at 5,700 rpm, should i have stretched it a bit more?what tranny did my car come with. i think its the tr 3650 but idk? lastly the car came with 3.55 gears and when i burn out only the passenger wheel goes, do i need posi?

RE: couple questions about shifting and tranny.
let's see...all GTs come with posi, so might want to have yours checked out, or go down a back road and drop the clutch, check the rearview for twin strips...
...max hp on a bone stock GT is at 5800 rpm, the rev limiter is 6250, but the car starts to pull power maybe 300-500 rpm before the rev limiter is reached, to kind of cushion the car against the abuse of slamming into the limiter...my brenspeed retune included resetting the rev limiter to 6800, which I would advise you to do, then shift around 6000.
...also don't feel bad, that 13.5 these cars are advertised with is like the three minute mile, esp. with factory tires and suspension. My best is 13.147 at 105 and change, and that's with UDPs, CAI, tune, o/r x, a/b, 4.10s, rear ca's and a 1.88 60 ft on mt drag radials. Most stockers I see at the track were running around a 14.0 or slower, then again it is florida 80-85 degrees...
...hope I helped!
