Would like to build a "Sleeper" for under 10K. Can I?

put a s/c or turbo on. i spent $7500 on a saleen stage 3 from brenspeed and no one has any idea the car will run in the 11s on stock tires. everything else is stock. you will not have much of a problem taking 99.5% of cars on the road.

$10K! Man you could be putting out some serious HP for that much change. Just depends on what you want to put on your car. Turbo or Super Charger. Then again you could just buy a Zex Nitrous kit and tune it for like a 150hp shot. That is about as stealth as you can go. But am sure you want to go the SC or Turbo route.

This is my opinion of a good sleeper. Buy a good quiet supercharger like the Paxton, add either a good clutch or TC depending on your tranny, lower control arms, drag radials on the rear wheels and a set of 4:10 gears with a good tune. That would put you in the $10k realm at a good shop and will be a deep 11 second car if driven and built right. Add a decent exhaust and it further masks the blower sounds.

nothing against whipple, KB, Saleen or other positive displacement blowersbut they are not sleeper blowers as they whine way too much to be a secret for long. The quietest I have heard is the Paxton Novi series for our cars. Barely noticable and most never hear it. That is one of two reasons I bought Paxton
