Default 1968 Gears

I am posting this question again, not sure if I am in the right area? I have a 289, and I plan to swap it for a 302, with a 5spd. AOD tranny. Wanted to know if I need to swap the rear end for a 9" or can I just change the gears of the original axle? Any info would help...THANKS!

Wrong section, but you could just change the gears instead of going over kill with a 9'.I'm guessing you have the 7.5 rear end?
If so check Ford racing, they have a Traction-Lok limited slip unit for $220 for the 7.5 that with gears would be less hassle I believe.
Ford racing -(3.73)$189 (4.10) $184

sorry bro, check the year section next time. but basically, the 289 should hav the 8" rear. and acutally, the other info I was gona give you was more classic detailed. I'll pm you about it

make a post in the classic section and they'll help even more.
