Default What are the supporting mods for adding an Super Charger?

I know going FI is the only way to may a lot of power, but don't want all of that power yet. Maybe in another year or 2. But along until then, I'd still like to mod my mustang.

What mods can I add now that a super charger can utilize? I don't want to put on stuff that I'd have to get rid of once I buy a Whipple or KB. At the same time, I'd like for them to be mods that will improve my performance now. Not mods that will make a difference only after I install the SC. Make sense?

I'm on a similar path to yours. Wanted to mod as I went along and enjoy the incremental benefits but not waste money on things I could not use with the S/C (like underdrive pulleys).

I did CAI/Tune, Shifter, and 4.10s first. Then added a Zex kit. Putting in an aluminum driveshaft this weekend.

I am somewhat unconventional as I am still on the stock wheels/tires. Most guys are happier doing those *before* the S/C

I'll reuse the Zex after I build the motor next year.

CAI/TUNE are on order now.

I'm thinking about the aluminum drive shaft as one of my next upgrades. Are there any numbers representing performance gains from this mod?

I've heard varying reports on dyno results but there seems to be general greement that it is worth .1-.2 in the ET department.

Some people like them as they eliminate the 'clunking' noise from the stock 2 piece and the car revs faster.

Don't know any of this first hand. Yet.

Work on a full exhaust ( lontube headers, midipe). If you have 3.31 gears stock, maybe go for some 3.73's, if you got 3.55's keep them in there.

Pay attention to suspension. And get some wheels with some nice sticky tires. You can always do heads and cams, but that right there will cost you as much as your supercharger.

You can upgrade your fuel pump and injectors, this will make it easier when you have you s/c, although wont increase your performance now.

there are better mods for the money than a one piece drive shaft
I am going to get one because I don't like the noise of the stock one

Like howarmat has stated in Post #2, you need suspension mods starting with (adjustable) UCA and LCAs. Panhard bar and LCA relocation brackets if you're going to lower the car more than 1-1/2 inches. All the power of the S/C is wasted if you can't put it to the ground. If you haven't experienced wheel hop in stock trim, you probably will when you install your CAI/Tune.

Is wheel hop a shuddering/thumping kind of thing? I've had that happen on damp pavement before.
