I'm going to be calling another shop tomorrow that I've heard several people say that they do good work and install gears right. I'm going to get a quote to have them look at the rearend and if they don't think it's worth trying to adjust and fix as-is, I may have them replace the gear later on down the road. Hopefully I'll be in better spirits on Friday when I run my car for the first time since July and for the first time with gears. If it stays dry I'll be running in 50ish degree weather and traction shouldn't be an issue since I have to launch around 2300 rpm and I have MT ET Streets (bias ply). I'll be looking to knock several 1/10s off my current best.

Man I am sorry to hear about your problem. I have also experienced the same problem. I live in Arizona and had a "Mustang Shop", who has been in business since the early 70's do my work. It took 3 different gear installs to get the extreme whine and clunk when decelerating to go away. I live in a small town with no shops and had to drive approximately 90 miles one way to Phoenix to get the work done. So I completely understand your frustration. DON'T give up! You are right and let them know it. I wish I had some encouraging words for you, but that would be a lie. As bad as it is, and as hard as it is, the only thing you can do is either give up or fight and win. Sorry. I hope things get better for you. Good luck,
