I'm glad you decided against the probe pistons. Though they have some great success on other applications, I don't like their dish for the S197. I had a set of probes in my first build and they sucked. The Manley's are decent and a lot of people use them but I like the coated JE's above them all. I have looked at a lot of pistons and like the design of the JE's for the modular motors above all others.

As for your compression, you certainly can run a high compression with big boost. As a matter of fact, the blower will love it. The problem comes in octane. Is this going to be a track only car?

I ask because Justin should have certainly told you that with a high compression and big boost, race gas is going to be mandatory ALL THE TIME. You will not be able to run pump gas in that set-up. If you're going where I think you're trying to go, you'll be dependent on C16 (118 octane) and that sheet is no joke to your pocket. I spend upwards of $500 a month on the stuff just for the track. I can't imagine what it would cost me to run it on the street full time as well. This is the reason I have a 8.7:1 instead of a 10 something.

Yes, for track power, you want higher compression but always remember that higher compression requires higher octane.

Im going to call Justin tommarrow to make sure but I think I should go with a 8.5:1 or 8.7:1 to run 20 psi on 93 oct for the street as this is were I play and I only see the track 1 time per month but dont get me wrong I want 1000 bhp that is why this combo has been hard to decied on.

Do you think this set up would have a lot of noisy piston slap ? Im thinking of this set up at .0030 over.

Default In need of some assistance

I just bought my 2006 Mustang GT and its only got 5,xxx miles on it so I don't really want to go in the motor...but I want to do something to it. I wanna get a Bassani H-Pipe and long-tube headers, either 4:10s or 4:30s in the rear end. And a throttle body. Any ideas of other small things I could do to increase HP and Torque are welcome.
