I found myself in the same situation...I think the best setups on the new 3V motors is either the Mac LT headers with the Mac O/R prochamber and mac mufflers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2jrCEDonso(btw its the 99-04 body style but he claims its got a 3V) or I think just adding the Mac boomtubes with out changing the midpipe or the headers would do the trick...look at the exhaust gurus "epic" video. http://files.filefront.com/mac+boomt.../fileinfo.html

Ill let you know how my car sounds when i get some nice weather to put on my mac l/t and mac o/r prochamber that are sitting in my room. They will go along with my mac boomtubes.

The closest I've heard to the old 5.0 sound (I posted this in another thread also) is my friends S197 - he did a Flowmaster setup where they're mounted on the O/R h-pipe and dump before the axle.
