Best suggestion anyone can ever give you, just don't do it. You will be very happy not switching.

For a first mod I wouldnt get a TB. CAI and tuner. Check out bamachips or brenspeed. When you run out of other mods to do then id say get the TB. A lot of people will say dont do it and how they had problems but personally I havent had a problem with the TB itself. For me the problem was I didnt load the spring right and it got all twisted up.

BTW welcome to MF. If you have any questions just ask.

+1 on the CAI/Tune...that should be your first mod. I'm pushing 480rwhp and haven't touched the stock TB.

Ok, first off, the forums are correct to an extent, that the stock TB is very good, and there are no replacements on the market to change the performance, which is true.

However, there is only ONE, TB that has proven to have results adn be reliable, and its the GT500 TB. The TB on these cars are all electronic drive by wire, and the only time that you will need to change out the stock one for a bigger one is if you are running major mods, or have forced induction, even then, the reliability is not going to be great.

99% of TB sold are currently used as paperweights. I would strongly recommend to NOT change your TB and to go a different route with mods, and start with UDP, or CAI and Tune.

If you do a TB as your first, you will get frustrated with it and throw it on teh shelf. In saying that, teh GT500 one will work, but you wont notice a difference becuase you have nothing to compliment it.

Just my .02

agree with shooter, GT500 will net you 8-10 hp only AFTER you have all the bolt-ons... certainly one of the last additions to make.

I have had problems with the BBK in respect to check engine lights. Every so often the "tool" symbol would illuminate and I would have absolutely no throttle response. I would be forced to restart the car and then then check engine light would disappear and I would finally have some throotle response. This started happening 10k miles after I put on this throttle body.

The BBK tb would be a bad investment in my opinion. From what i've read on these forums people are having problems with them. If you must get a tb get the gt500, but the stock tb is good for over 500 rwhp.

Get a custom tune and a cold air intake with under drive pullies. A throttle body wont help you as previously mentioned in prior posts. Gears are also an investment that you will really feel.

My first mod was exhaust. Shortly after I did 4.10s cold air intake, under drive pullies and a custom tune all in one day.
