RE: 5 speed owners
I thought I was gonna go nuts when my husband bought an auto truck....grrrr. I fell in love with the truck but am so much happier that he traded it for a manual GT I personally feel that people that like to race auto's, have no racing skills....just my opinion...

Carjacker Politely Changes Mind When He Sees Car Is Stick-Shift
SAN DIEGO - San Diego police are looking for a carjacker who politely changed his mind when he saw that the car he was about to steal in Clairemont had a stick shift, authorities said. The attempted carjacking in the 6100 block of Charing Street was reported at 8:22 p.m. Monday, said San Diego police Sgt. Bob Dare. A man with a gun approached a couple who had just parked their vehicle and demanded they hand over the keys, a purse, cell phone and other valuables, Dare said. But when he saw that the car had a manual transmission, the would-be car thief said, "Sorry, have a nice day" and took off, Dare said. The thief did, however, keep the phone and the other valuables.
The suspect is described as Black, in his 20s, around 6 feet 2, of thin build, last seen wearing a long pea coat.

RE: 5 speed owners
When I shopped around for mine, I never even considered an auto. I'd driven autos for the past 25yrs before this one.
Prefer a manual if I'm driving a Mustang.
I had planned on taking a test drive in an auto, after driving the one I bought, forgot all about the auto test drive

For me a sports car/ fun car should never be an auto.
For everyday transportation sure as you can just turn your brain off.
My 99GT was an auto that I only bought because I got an unbelievable deal on it. I turned it into a bracket car and ran it every week at the track. It was alot of fun but I didnt get near the pleasure out of it that I do with my 07 on the street.
I must admit I do like some of the new DSG transmissions like on the GTI and new EVO. I could learn to like those for autocross and track duty.
But to answer the OP no, I dont think you will find many if any manual trans drivers who want to trade for an auto. It gets in the blood.
I would love to have the mustang for my fun car and the new CTS V with a 6 speed for a DD. Anyone have $60k I could borrow.

I love my 5 speed!
Shifting my stang adds to the joy I get from my car. Nothing beats cruising on hot summer nights with the top town. I don't think you are truely connecting with the car unless have one foot on the clutch and one hand on the shifter. Enganging all the senses. Eyes on the road, wind in my hair, radio playing nickelback for extra attitude. Total package.Good times!

The ONLY way the 5 speed manual will EVER come out of my 08 GT is when the new Tremec 6 speed manual is in my garage!!! PERIOD! Having a high performance car with an auto tranny is like havea super model girlfriend that never wants to have sex. NO THANKS!!!

I love my 5 speed even with the Spec 3 clutch in it. It just feels right to shift the gears. I had always had standards until my last truck which i got lazy on and just bought off the lot. Never again! I special ordered my GT so I could get the color, trim and transmission i wanted.
