CAI Install...mpg drop and cooling fan running
Hey guys I got a question. I installed a JLTII CAI with SCT tune. I have noticed a 2-3 mpg decrease in fuel economy (no big deal) and the cooling fan seems to be running alot more than it used to (the car is not overheating). Is this normal? My logic tells me that the tune takes into account more air flow, therefore more fuel to get the right A/F mixture which in turns increases engine heat therefore the cooling fan runs more often. Is my logic on track?

Sounds like you're right on. Some with a tune claim to get better fuel economy. I'm sure you'll hear from them. I don't see how you can make more HP without suffering fuel economy. If it were possible, Ford would do it from the factory and boost their mpg numbers.

The Tune you installed probably turns the electric fan on at a lower temp. Its normal. I had the same question when I installed a Brenspeed tune and called them about it.
