Default Gearing quesion

Hello. I just bought a used 2007 Ford Mustang GTwith the 3.55 gear ratio. I took it for a test drive beforehand and everything seemed cool. Today I was coming down the expressway doing 85mph and noticed that my rpms were at 2500. That seems pretty high for a 3.55. Then at a stop light I got on it hard(didn't pop the clutch though)and turned the tires over in 1st gear and 2nd gear. This seemed a little odd for a 3.55 since I did the same thing with my Dad's2005 mustang with a 3.55and didn't turn the tires over. At 2500 rpms at 85mph do you think that the previous owner maybe put in a lower gear like 4.10's????

Thanks,

J.D

You didn't say if your rim's were stock or not. But anyway, if you had 4.10's in there, you would be turning about 3100 rpm's at 85 mph.

I still have the stock 3.55's and that is right where my rpm sits at 85, I have the 18" rims just to let you know.

What wheels/tires did your dads car have and what does your car have? What i'm getting at is the 18 inch rims with BFG's are harder to spin than the 17 inch pirellis.

Guys, I had forgotten to mention that I have the Roush Stage 1 Pkg on the car. But I believe this only includes rims/tires upgrade. I have 275/40/18's on 18X10 rims. Do you think I still have 3.55's?
