New Brenspeed NSR Cam

New Brenspeed NSR Cam
I am looking to get more HP in an NA '07 GT. I know Cam mods are generallyfrowned on in this forum, but I'm not exactly sure why. Brenspeed has their new-design "no springs required" design that is reasonably cheap ($650 cost / $280 install), and they claim up to 30 RWHP gains, and I just spoke to Dave over there yesterday. So I have to ask, why is this mod so taboo? Have there been reliability problems with cam changes? What gives?
Any info from those that have done cams would be appreciated.

RE: New Brenspeed NSR Cam
Nobody think cams are taboo.
There are just very small gains for a lot of investment. Many people have lost torque on the lower end and gained HP in the upper RPM range.
The NSR cams are much cheaper than beefier cams. (1100 maybe compared to 2500)There are really no high lift cams avalable though, and it seems some people just change cams for the rough idle regardless of the result to their powerband.
Overall there are people running stock cams with forced induction and getting huge power still.

Post your results before & after ajaibr.
Have to say, the 2 I saw done gained 11-18 with the NSR cams.

One of those cars also went with the C&L Racer,BBK throttle body.Net gain was 18hp,11Tq.

Yeah i'll definitely post that night... I can't swear by anything cause I don't have it done yet... I'll believe it when I see it... I did ask about doing delete plates at the same time and they said that will add even more... Not sure if I'm going to do it at the same time or not yet...

I am going to have them done too i think....modaddict (CK) said they really werent the best for n/a cars but there is really nothing else left for me to do and i wouldnt mind the HP in the higher end holding up instead of dropping of rapidly in the upper limits

RE: New Brenspeed NSR Cam
Just talked to Dave over at Brenspeed again cause I was wondering about the wide range of HP gains people are reporting... We're going to do before and after dyno pulls to show the difference on my car... He said one of the biggest differences from car to car is in the CAI you have installed... The bigger it is, the better the gains....
I've got an average CAI (S&B) so we'll see how that works out... If I don't like the numbers I'm seeing on the cams with this CAI, I'll probably have them change it out while I'm there and get a 3rd dyno number... I'll keep everyone posted as soon as it's done....
My appointment is on April 2nd and he's booked up until then so I'd say hang tight and wait and use my car as a dyno guinnea pig....

Keep us posted man...I was about to order these when I saw this thread!
Also tell us about how different the cams sound...since the NSR's are not really too aggressive, I was wondering if I would get the lopiness I was looking for!
