So I want to get a whipple for my 06 GT in about 2 years from now. After I get the car paid off and all that jazz.

I've decided to pass on the CAI and tune mainly because I have to ditch them after I get the blower.

What mods are good to think about getting to prepare for the whipple? Lower control arms I know. Maybe some 18x10 for the rear of the car. Is that pretty much it? I have 3.55 gears already.

Well if you are looking to spend some money now I would get the following.

Alum D/S
Shifter
LT headers 1 3/4
Clutch
Detroit Locker

None of that is necessary for the whipple kit, but they all help.

So as far as the "must haves" go then the LCA and bigger wheels are pretty much it? I want to get a shifter and an exhaust but they are kinda far down on my list. But I would like to have the necessities in place before getting the blower. I realize the stock clutch may not last that long and it'll be replaced as soon as it gets burnt out.

Build up the suspension, one piece Driveshaft.

ya sounds good so far, def some sort of suspension upgrade, def a new DS and prob a clutch. you could prob go without those mods, but i would build around it alil first.

2 years from now??? Get the CAI/tune. It'll hold you over in the mean time, you'll definitely get your money's worth out of it in two year's time. Plus, you can turn around and sell it anyway.

Additionally, you are going to need the tuner anyway if you plan on having it tuned proper, instead of the canned Whipple tune...

As far as the CAI and Tune all I ever hear is raving about how great the auto tranny shifts with it. Will it even make a noticeable difference with a manual transmission?

Oh yeah. I put one on mine, and it was a completely different car. It really wakes up the drive-by-wire crapola, and my ***-dyno was VERY happy..

For one year? Meh, might or might not do it, depends if you can spare the $$. For two? DEFINITELY!! Beg, borrow, steal, whatever, just DO IT...

Where'd you get your MGW shifter at btw?

I'll consider the CAI/tune. Looking at the JLT, Steeda, or C&L right now. Probably won't get it for a few months though. Waiting on that $600 check from the .gov.
