Default 4.10 questions

Hey,

Let me first say that I understand our cars are performance cars, and not 'cheap miles', I run 93, and I've just come to accecpt that It'll cost me $50 every time at the pump.

I just want to make sure before I make the plunge to 4.10's that it won't kill me at the pump.

How much MPG reduction do you see when switching from stock to 4.10's?

I really want to drop these gears in there, but wanted to double check that my mpg won't cut in half or anything crazy like that.

Also, what is the break in period like for new gears?

Thanks very much!!

You'll probably get better MPG in the city if you keep your foot out of it.

You might reduce you MPG 2-3 on the highway. I never did a before and after comparison of MPG since I didn't care.

Ouch!!! I have 3.31's and at 70 mph tach is at 2020 rpm's ( 70 miles round trip to work). Sounds like a gas mileage killer, but who cares. Just work more OT. Wife will like that anyway so she can hit the mall in my GT, OOP'S our GT.

my gas mileage got killed...

but thats also cause i now put my foot down more and drive more agressively...i lost over 100KM per tank, so whatever that works out to in miles?!

but its worth every little bit of it...

quick math says thats a drop of about 5mpg.

~260mi/13g =20mpg
~200mi/13g = 15.4mpg

Decent drop, but not horrible considering how much fun 4.10's sounds like

I have had the 4.10 gears for tha last year and I steadily drive 80mph or about 2900 rpm almost everywhere I go on the freeway. 47000 miles on the car and my dash tells me I am avg 19.4 mpg.
And i would have it no other way ! Way better than the stock 3.55
