PI Torque Converter, single vs multi disc ?
hello all,
Ok I am in the market for a torque converter, have heard enough about the TCI Streetfighter (re-worked stock) torque converter and decided to go with Precision Industries , how big a difference is there between their single disc and the multi disc model?
Is the PI single disc like the TCI, a re-worked stock unit, or a brand new part, is the multi-disc worth the extra $300 ? They both have a 2 year warranty so what is the harm in getting the single disc unit? When I supercharge I won't be doing insane boost levels, just enough to get me 400 RWHP/RWTQ, so basically sell me on the multi disc, what exactly does it have to offer over the single disc? I am looking at 3200 stall rpm.
thanks

RE: PI Torque Converter, single vs multi disc ?
As I understand it, a multi-plate TC will allow the converter to "hold" under high power levels, such as cars that are super- or turbocharged. Hopefully someone can explain this a little better than I can. At any rate, I have the PI multi-plate unit with a 3,000 stall. Had it for about 2 months with a naturally aspirated engine, and it seems like I get a little more torque and power transmitted to the rear wheels with it. But, I'll be putting on my Whipple this week, which is why I got it in the first place.

You have to call PI and get the part #. They told me they don't have it listed on their website. I would give ST motorsports a call for PI converters good source.

here is the one I want but good god..for $1500 it better be a helluva mod lol ($600 install)
will be getting it after gears (3.73s or 4:10s) so it should really haul *** especially with the
intake/tuner...
