4.10 gears
#43
I got 34 mpg on the Highway once :-D I drove behind a big rig at about 70mph for about 2 hours and got that. (I have 3.31 gears btw) How much of a difference does switching to 4.10 gears make on your 1/4 mile time?

Not sure how much difference it would make. At first you might get worse times with the 4.10s because of your launch. But once you get the hang of them, I would guess the 4.10s would increase your 1/4 mile time by 2 to 3 tenths.

Well i keep reading about people saying the car pulls sooo much harder. But it sounds like a bit of an exaggeration. I understand that at any given speed you will be at a higher RPM in the same gear. And I read about people saying they don't have to shift out of 5th on the highway to pass cars... But I would imagine you could just down shift and get the same acceleration... I don't know, maybe it is just something I would have to experience first hand *shrugs*

The car does pull harder through out the entire RPM range. On the hwy, yes to pass a car you generally don't need to downshift, but you can. At 70 MPH then downshifting from 5th to 3rd and accelerating to 85-90 the car pulls much harder with 4.10s than with 3.55s. At the track, traction might be a problem when you first race with 4.10 gears, but once you get use to them you should put up better numbers.
