Default Spydershaft.

Ok so I was looking at the Lethal Performance website at the Spydershaft.

My first question is, they say it was designed for the 5r55's, how well does it work with the 5speed manual transmissions? I can't see there being a difference?

My second question is, Does it really lower 1/4 mile times by 0.21 seconds? they say same day test before and after, has anyone else seen these gains?

there are a lot of guys that swear up and down the spydershaft. i don't think it would be out of the question for you to see those gains.

i gained .2 tenths with my spydershaft. Makes a huge difference compared to that hunk of steel thats under your car now. Also the spydershaft works just fine on the 5 speed manual

i have one also and love it. you may want to consider getting it from suttonhp.com though. it was a little cheaper than leathal performance

Any cons on the spydershaft? Vibration and all that?

there are a few guys that have had trouble with alum drive shafts from all the manufacturers. you'll get all kinds of answers about adjusting the pinion angle and everything else. i for one have a custom made alum drives shaft built in the same fashion as a spydershaft, and had a lot of trouble getting it not to vibrate. i tried three different shafts, adjusted pinion angles and everything else, but what finally did the trick was to have the shaft rebalanced by another local shop. this shop gave up on custom shafts for s197 mustangs, because they couldn't get one to work well enough without vibes to be suitable for sale.

my personal opinion is that if i hadn't sunk so much much money into this shaft trying to make it work, i probably wouldn't do it again.

Charity Leonard told me in an email that 95% of spydershaft customers have no issues with vibrations and that the ones that do are usually only cars lowered 1.5" or more.
