New Gears

I can't wait until Thursday (well actually Friday). I'm dropping mine off Thursday morning, but wont be able to pick it up until Friday because of my schedule. But I am so stoked. Pretty good deal on everything too...$170 for FRPP 4.10s, $85 for motive bearing kit, $300 for install...Can't wait.
I'm glad to see another person will be running stock 17" Pirelli's w/ 4.10s as well. How has traction been for you so far?

my installer was able to squeeze me in today!!! there's no whine, and only a whisper of a noise during deceleration every once in a while, but i'm sure it's just normal ambient gear noise that i've never paid attention to, it's so faint that i could be making it up!! lol
it's so hard not to stomp on it, but i can already feel that it's much torquier even at easy throttle. now only 4 heat cycle and several hundred miles to go until i can enjoy them!!!

And yeah, I found myself looking for noises that I've never cared about before too. There's no loud whine, so, I stopped worrying.

Traction isn't nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be... with regular driving I can't think of any time that I've had problems getting traction. If you're worried about wheel hop when you're racing, I haven't found that to be much of a problem either. You just have to change the way you accelerate, don't instantly floor it and you should be fine. I haven't taken mine to the track though, I just know about street driving. I think on the track new wheels would probably be necessary (at least that's what I've heard..)
Congrats on getting them installed so soon. By now you should have probably gone through those cycles - so how do you like it?

yeah i got on it just a little bit tonight.......WOW. these things are no b.s. pulls like a sonofagun now. mine are pretty silent, i can only hear a peep every once in a while when i concentrate, and even then, i may be making it up!! i'm really glad i did the gear swap!! can't wait to floor it!!!

With decent tires and good track prep, launching the car with 4.10s is not an issue. With 3.55s and crappy Nitto 450 extremes, my 60' times were 2.4 to 2.5 sec. With 4.10s and BFG KDWs, my 60' time dropped to around 2.2 with a best of 1.9. Adding LCA, my 60' dropped a little more with a best of 1.8. You can't rev and dump the clutch, if you have a manual, and expect a decent time.

Speaking of launches. I have a fairly basic question.
Our engines start making good power around 3,000RPM. So that being the case, if I go to launch my manul transmission car then I should aim to rev up to 3,000 first. Then slip the clutch out as quick as I can without wheelspin and apply enough throttle to keep the engine at 3,000 until the clutch is all the way out and the throttle is floored.
This in a nutshell is the correct way to launch the car. Yes?

I think you have adjust you RPM launch based on track prep and tires. You could try 3000 and if you are getting too much wheel spin, then drop down a little. Personally, I can't keep it at a constant RPM while at the staging lane. I go anywhere from 2000 to 3000 RPMs.
