Default 295/45's out back.....

I just had 295/45/18s put on the back - I like having a little more sidewall - its more oldschool. Question is - should I bother lowering it now. I have BMR springs sitting in the trunk and planned to install this weekend, but the new rubber made a huge difference in filling the wheel well, and now I'm a little worried about taking away another 1 1/2 inches........will it rub?

Is anyone else running tires that size that has lowered it? I measured it, there is still more than 2" from the top of the tire to the edge of the wheel well. But man - it'd be low.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Hey man just saw some pictures from someone else earlier this week with the same tires. Mind posting a few? If you do decide to lower it before/after would be great!

Are they Z rated tires or better? I wouldn't put anything but a z tire on my car

I'll see if I can get a couple pics soon. They are meaty - thats for sure - I have 255/50/17s up front. I've been staggered for a couple of years.

They are V rated - up to 149 mph. I will rarely break 100 mph anyway - so its not that big a deal. I will make it to the track once or twice a year just for sh*ts and giggles. I'm not trying to set any world records. Functionality and appearance ALONG with performance is needed since its a DD with 61K miles on it, and I plan to drive it another 3-5 years.

I had the same tire size with my Stang lowered. The height of the tire gave a rake effect but lowered the body gap between the tire and fender fills in nicely. No rubbing at all but that depends on your wheel offset,my offset was 42mm.

Nice pics Poco - nice car. I'd have gotten orange if they'd have had it in '05.

I run 305/45/18 M/T drag radials and they fit fine but I am not lowered.
you should be fine with 295/45/18 tires if you lower 1"

I'm thinking it'll be OK and plan to press forward. I'm using BMR springs so its supposed to be 1 1/2" rear and 1 1/4" up front.

No personal experience but from my research should be fine. Plenty of people are running 305/45/18 DR's with a 2" drop.

I just have Roush rear springs which are like .75 - 1" and I dont foresee any problems.

What you have to remember is that the tire is 1.7" taller than stock. But that is in diameter so half that distance will be what you will see at the top of the tire. So the tire will only go up .85" from stock.

Short Anwer is it will be fine. Please post before and after drop pics.

Thanks,

Will do - I'm headed to Vegas for a week starting Saturday - so the work won't be done til I get back and have some free time on the 13th & 14th.

I'll get some pics up of the pre-drop though.
