Default 2007 4.6 needs more power!!!

Hey Folks, my father has a 2007 4.6 GT and I was thinking about helping him hop it up a bit. I've heard of chips and race tuners before but I don't really understand them. I think he also wants a display of HP, Torque, etc. I'm trying to get educated on performance parts and am thinking about a present for his retirement. He loves drag racing his buddies and I've heard him say that you can get a lot more horsepower from a "chip". Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Respro.

CAI & Tuner Combo is your best bang for your buck. Check out Brenspeed

+1
CAI/tuner combo
gears (4.10's)
exhaust (LT's, o/r mid pipe, axle backs)
UDP's
CMCV deletes
better traction, tires, suspension

i would start w/ CAI/tuner and some axlebacks, will give you a good 25 rwhp depending on the CAI, and a better sound. the displays that give you hp/tq are not that accurate, better to spend your money on something else like gears. but the tuner is a must if you're gonna do further modding.

You have got to get the CAI & Tuner combo. That alone will make a noticeable difference. Exhaust will help also. I have a C&L Racer CAI w\a Diablo Sport Predator Tuner w\a bama 91 Octane Race tune. Made a heck of a difference. the CAI\Tuner package is up in the air as to which is the best. Alot really has to do with your elevation that you reside at. I have read of guys running a full 1-1/2 second faster at sea level than what we do where I am at with pretty much the same mods. I can't personally call BS on anyone because I haven't run my combo where they are located. I would be curious to see how some of them run up here in the higher elevations with the combos they are running.

get him a cai/tuner.
the car will be night and day difference for him.

handheld tuners are like what chips were before you could reprogram the cars computer like in this day and age, same concept.

All my HP mods were very easy to install with basic tools ( except for x pipe) and made a huge difference in power!!
