Question about FI hp on stock block
Now some say 450 is the limit on a 3v v8. The whipple intercooled system is 500 hp. Now, the question is. Is that to much for a stock block/internals? Should I get a lower PSI pulley if I get the whipple? I wasn't in the market but the deal I was propopesed for a BRAND NEW one I don't think I can pass up. When they say 450hp. Do they mean at the wheels or at the motor? And when Whipple says 500hp. IS that at the wheels or at the motor. I'd like around 430 at the wheels. Hows that for everyday driving and the occasional "fun" and track nights?

Most consider 450rwhp the most they would go with on stock block. Whipples kit is 500bhp, not rwhp. There are a TON of guys on here running the whipple kit on their stock block with no issues what so ever. From what I have seen you would be looking at 440-465 rwhp with that kit alone. IMO you will be safe for quite a while running that kit. But as always with FI you never know what could happen. I would recommend you keep the kit with the "10lb. pulley", and just have it tuned to your liking. Im sure the whipple crew will chime in and fill you in on everything. I'm not familiar with their pulley sizing.

I'm not sure how to tell. Is there something to look for? Hes been asking me if I wanted to buy it for the last couple months. What exactly does a tuner do to have it tuned to my liking? Adjust spark basically right?

Ask who ever is selling it to you which gen it is....if he had it installed on a 06 or older it is the Gen 1 if after 06-07 then it could be a gen2 which is more efficient requiring less boost for the same HP level or more!!!!! I have a generation 1 with the 11 psi and running 465 RWHP which as Whipple advertised the H.O 500 HP kit. That equates to about 540 at the crank give or take.
The tuner can adjust timing adv and fuel parameters etc with the tuner....

I'm not sure he even knows what Gen it is. He keeps telling me its for an 06. And keeps saying motorsports. The only thing I figure is its a Ford Racing whipple. I'll find out more in the beginning of the week. Its not used. Its a Brand New one. I really don't wanna say how much it is, because if I end up buying it and not using it. I'd like to make some money on it. lol. He offered it to me for $4000. And it someone I trust because we do inventories for him ever few weeks. Been dealing with him for years and he deals with my dads dealership. He said its the $6500 unit.

$6500 kit? Is it polished? The black one sold for $5699 just about everywhere and you could get it brand new for around $5200 from a select few dealerships.

To answer your question about drivability; I have the Brenspeed Stage 2 Saleen kit, which is making what you see in my sig. I think it's great for daily driving. I don't have a problem with too much low end torque, and if I really want the instant power, it's there. I do have stock gears, though, so that helps with drivability as well.
