In my case the tranny fluid was changed just a couple of weeks ago at the dealership. There aren't any leaks that I detected. I check those things after a trip to the dealer. I hadn't had a problem before that incident, nor since. It was just a really weird thing. After the panic brake, the car just sat there. No matter what I did, it didn't matter until the trans finally found a gear, then "banged" into gear. The "bang" wasn't a little one either. It was a hard jolt, then the trans was back in drive, and the car was moving again.

Gotta agree with you on that.

^Is that really necessary? It's pretty obvious he's using a translator.

I spent two years in China and made some real mistakes. One time in a class I was teaching I asked a lady if she wanted to kiss me instead of asking her if she had a question to ask. The two words are very similar. In all my time there and with all my errors I never had one person make fun of how I spoke. Try to imagine Mandarin with a south Texas accent. By the way I never got to where I would have been willing to write on a public forum in Chinese. I hope QTR has received some useful information.

I had an '05 v6 with an auto, same issue. After flushing/refilling the automatic transmission fluid, the problem went away. It's almost like the ATF fluid is low and when you panic brake it sloshes away from the torque converter.

So, yes, replace ATF fluid, should fix it.
