4.10 auto!

Even for things that you (or I) might have a natural aptitude for - there's nothing like having lots of experience to get REALLY good at it. The old-timer's reflexes might not be as quick as yours any more, but I'd be willing to bet that his 'timing' and throttle modulation is way better than yours at this point. Call it "practice makes perfect", "old age and treachery", or something like that. You'll get there soon enough if you keep at it. Honest.

I know. I peeked before I posted that.
stealth - there's a whole range of how much throttle to add and how fast to add it. Eventually you'll stumble across the combination that best suits your car and perhaps that particular track. All I can do is suggest that you keep experimenting with it until you find what timing and so forth works for you. That's how you develop your own experience.

thanks again for the words of wisdom.
As for the gears, it's been fun and all but I will be going to 3.73s this winter.
The trip to the track and big is insane. Going with traffic, my RPMS sit at 3k the entire way home after a long day of racing at the track. Not good by any means.
I know it seems like a big waste of money on the 4.10s but it was something I had to get out of my system. Everyone that has them raves about them and their awesome performance so I could not resist. I love the gears and all, but it's short lived run is up.

I guess if the whole world of driving was made up of drag strips laid end to end, with traffic lights, stop signs, and the occasional turn in between them - you'd have the winning answer to all of these gearing questions . . . then again, life is never quite that simple.

I'm not having that same short lived feeling... lol.
Your track prep must suck. If it's warm outside, I'll screech the tires a little bit and take off every time... on the street. Especially on new pavement.. it hooks and 1st gear pulls so hard. I haven't lost a race from a dig yet. They aren't as impressive from a roll though.
Let us know how you feel about 3.73's when you get those in.

^^ actually, the trap prep is great. I can't seem to get the launch just right but I got it down just good enough. Instead of getting more mods, I am seriously considering some 295/55/r18 Nitto 555s (street) and possibly some lower control arms/relocation brackets.
I thought about some other mods but it'll make traction worse with these tires...
