Default SC or Turbo with 87 Octane gas?

I want to install a turbo or SC (preferred are Saleen or Edelbrock) on my Mustang GT but... it is in another country were the best gas you get is "Super" with 87 octane. Then, the questions are:
1. Are there any 87 octane tunes available for turbo or SC?
2. Any experience or good guessing on final RWHP with that gas quality (rest of car is stock)?
3. Will the engine life be reduced with this set up?

The spend is quite high (need to add shipping and tax to the toy) for a small gain.... any word is highly appreciated!!!!

Felipe.

It might be possible for the tuner to pull enough timing to make it work but it would have to be a hell of a lot. At that point you wouldn't be making very much power and it would be a huge waste of money.

I wouldn't do it.

between the two you would be better off with a turbo. superchargers like that will need the higher octane rating to keep you from detonating down low where they make lots of torque. i really dont see why it would be a waste, you would be making more power than trying to build a N/A setup. you really cant look at nitrous with 87, but a turbo tuned right should be ok.

Go with a turbo or centrifugal type supergharger with water meth injection and keep the boost down to about 6# or so and you should be good as long as you don't go crazy with the timing.

lower octane usually means lower amount of boost you can run. It also makes such a large investment less and less worth it. If you don't expect enormous gains and can find a tuner to do it then it could be worth it, depending on how your personal dollar/horsepower ratio works out.

Right now I cannot think of one factory car with forced induction that runs on 87 (i'm sure there could be a few). Just goes to show how uncommon this is. If you are feeling bold though give it a try, I'm sure everyone here will be curious to see how it turns out!

Thanks for the info guys. Following your feedback, I think I will skip the extra power, at least for now... the investment is quite high related to what I will get.

Cheers,
Felipe.

methanol injection to raise the octane, though, I've never heard of it being used with 87.

Hmmm meth could make it a feasible thing. Thats an idea. Yeah but I haven't heard of anyone using meth and 87 either.

Anyone else have any info on meth + 87?

Do not supercharge or turbo your motor.. If 87 is the best gas you got, you will end up blowing the motor.. I know people that have done it.. Stick to doing bolt-ons like

Cold air intake
Long tube headers + Midpipe + catback
Delete Plates
Underdrive Pullies
Cams
Heads
etc..

Those will get your car feeling like a total different beast!! I would do it like this if i had that much money..
