Thumbs up Muffler Delete Exhaust- part throttle/cruise noise level

I've done a lot of research on different exhaust sounds and pricing vs performance. However, what I've noticed is that most people are only concerned with the amount of noise at WOT. Only a select few actually make usable sounds clips or videos with part throttle or cruising noise. Since street cars are driven at part throttle most of the time- I would like to know what it sounds like.

BTW, let's not be redundant here- this thread includes any Mustang without rear mufflers, and systems like the SLP loudmouths which have no muffler.

Any PT sound or video clips that you have would be a huge help here.

no vids, but I have the pypes muffler deletes and they are pretty quiet on cruise actually. Even at WOT they are loud but don't exactly wake the dead... I'd say, go for it. But if you are looking for a deep resonating tone, I'd get a muffered axle back...

If my exhaust wasn't in pieces, I'd surely help you out...

What I am truly searching for is that classic American muscle car sound (similar to the 1970 Chevelle I had). Now, I understand that there are SEVERAL factors that will limit me here. The 4.6L 3v has a unique sound, and the factory cams don't have enough overlap or valve duration. Plus, the cats further lower the exhaust sound level.

SO... I have no problem removing the rear mufflers. Considering I still have the factory cams, exhaust manifolds and cats- there's plenty to limit exhaust flow and sound.

Thanks for the input.

East87, is it also quiet when cruising?

He answered my PM- seems that it's rather mellow while cruising.

Boomtubes are another muffler delete option. They contain a baffling inside the pipe that mellows the sound out more than straight pipes do.

I'm surprised none of the BT crowd has chimed in here...

I have the SLP loudmouth axle back but no way recording soundclips. However, At regular driving I don't think it is too loud at all. Nice deep tone and idle and regular driving. At WOT it does get loud but keeps a nice tight deep sound and then on decel it breaks up slightly but actually sounds pretty mean. The rest of my car is stock, I am very pleased with my loudmouth purchase. With the stock H-pipe in my opinion its the best sounding axleback out....

Thank you for your input. I am currently deciding between custom made straight pipes and mid way cut-outs.

I think you don't see many at cruise videos because most S197's I've heard at cruise with about any exhaust setup are pretty quiet. My new system is loud at WOT and has a pretty good deep idle, but when I'm cruising in 5th, it sounds like I shut the engine off, you can just barely hear it.
