Air Conditioner Question
Hello, I have a 2000 Mustang gt 4.6 5 speed. I just bought it from a small dealer with 52k miles. well 5 days after buying it the air conditioning compressor went out. they are trying to tell me that it went out because I was hot rodding the car with the air conditioner on. While I have got on it once or twice I dont typically speed n the streets as I have kids and do not want to endanger someone else's family as I would not want mine. My question is, When the rpms reach a certain point is there not a switch or safety mechanism that kicks the compressor off?

That is what I thought, Is there a possibility that the sensor that controls that function is bad? This dealership is trying to make me pay labor on the replacement when it went out 5 days after purchase of the vehicle.

the good thing about it is the bank is still trying to verify my employment and I have not finished my references with them. so I can still kill the deal. I am expecting a call from them today. if not by 1:00 p.m. I will kill the deal. I still have my 87 Jeep that is paid off and no payment.

The PCM cuts out the compressor at WOT.
It senses the position of the drive by wire
so if the sensor (the gas pedal) was bad
allowing the compressor to run at WOT,
then the engine would not be able to be
revved over idle speeds.
Have em splain that one to ya.

Get out of the deal, Jimmy. Those mechanics know damn well how the throttle position sensor works and that there's no way you over reved the compressor. They are already trying to *** you and you haven't even bought the car yet.....Find yourself another GT/dealer man!!
