Advice on buying "used" diablosport tuner?

I'm looking at buying a tuner from someone for $200. He said he's selling it because he's "ready for a super charger". Is that a valid reason? I thought you still needed a tuner for that. I'm just nervous about buying something like that. Would predator support help me if I buy it used? I've never bought anything like that used and I'd like a little advice if it's dumb to buy it.

  1. A used tuner MUST be unlocked (car returned to stock tune) by the previous owner. Otherwise, you'll likely have to pay to have it unlocked.
  2. You'll still need to buy new tunes which will run you another $50-$75 or more.
  3. $200 for a used tuner is ok but not that good of a deal. A new handheld with custom tunes may only cost you about $150 more.
  4. Going SC'd STILL requires that you have a tuner. Unless his guy doing the SC install doesn't support Diablo, he's feeding you a line of crap.
  5. Be sure to get a CAI to go with the tuner and tunes. They're made for one another.

Diablo WILL NOT give you customer support for a previously owned tuner, been there done that.

Perhaps when he bought his SC it comes with a tuner pre programed for the SC installation.
