You are. They didn't fix the cylinder head until the 08 model.

I broke #2 and #6.

#6 caused me some additional issues, because like a moron, I damaged the threading on the cylinder head trying to fix the issue myself. This is what led to the whole Heads, Cams, Headers, etc project. Granted, the car runs like a scalded dog now - but what started off as a Sat afternoon project wound up A WHOLE LOT MORE. LOL.

#2 simply left the shield in, which came out easily. #6 snapped in two, but looking back, it was my fault for rushing it. I'm impatient by nature, and it cost me. Just take your time and things may work out pretty well. I've seen lots of folks get all 8 out with no issues - the common denominator in them all was following the TSB and patience.

Oh God have I been there. A 15 minute thermostat gasket fix that turned into hours and hours and hours of drilling because a bolt head broke off after which a drill bit, then a shank, and then a tap broke off into the same hole.

Cars have a tendency to do these things.

Is not the anti sieze a general prevenitive measure for the plugs install. not just for motorcraft plugs??

What's the ground shield like on the champions? If it's of the right shape/size then you could still have carbon buildup in between the surfaces. That said it should take a lot more "abuse", ie torque, when you go to pull it out because it's a 1 piece design and sturdier than the motorcrafts.

They will be fine with antiseize (on the threads). The problem is you do need to torque them down further if you use antiseize. Without antiseize, the spec is pretty low (like 18-20 ft/lbs) with antiseize it's closer to 23-25 ft/lbs. The whole reason ford said not to use them with the stock two piecer (or any two piece for that matter) is that if you do, the TSB that uses penetrating oil will not work. One piece = no problems so anti seize is fine. I've had them in with it for 5K miles.

You do realize what real use for anti seize is right?

You do NOT need to put anti seize on the threads they will most likely loosen up causing a problem ! On the two piece plugs you put the anti seize on the shaft only not the threads read the tsb. On the one piece no need for anti seize at all, why would you put it on the threads ?
