$150 for 5-10hp is not that bad these days. What else will give you these gains for the money? I did CAI/tune at the same time so I cant comment on the loss of any lowend torque. If there is any, it will only effect you at the bottom of first gear. You'll never see 3000rpms or below in any of the other gears. Economy plates are worth it IMO.

anyone have dyno #s to back up their claims of low end torque loss? besides get 4.10s and you wont miss any low end torque loss you spin so much anyways.

4.10 gears doesn't always equal instant spin. I couldn't get mine to break loose from a roll in first gear even with stock tires. Dump the clutch ofcourse... another story.

Others have had similar experiences. YMMV.

sorry I was just assuming drag racing. The only time I still cant light up my tires is if its 100 degrees in this texas heat and I have a road with lots of traction and im rolling at like 10mph when I hit it but I do have full bolt ons with stock suspension so that might help too.

What I was trying to get at was I really dont think you lose much tq anywhere with delete plates like some people say but I personally have no dynos before or after to go by.

I plan on doing these when I get back in town. Is the job fairly easy?

It is fairly easy. I'm pretty much a novice mechanic and I had no trouble at all with the install. Just follow taco bills tutorial and you'll have no problem. +1 on the advice of the power gains. Yes, small loss on the lower end but good gains up top.

who care about lost low end torque? i took .?? off in the 1/4 mile.. and I dont see anything below 3k rpm anyway... and no loss 3k on up. (okay.. first gear sees 2-3k for like 1/10th of a second) I say .?? off because I took 1.1 off techincally from the last time i went but added gears and under drive pulleys too.. and after DA correction was really only .5-.6 faster.. I do believe i made atleast 10-20hp off the plate/pulley combo based on dyno tests and results.. unless other people are also seeing half a second 1/4 mile gains off gears only..

I think it's a good mod and I got impressive results by getting rid of them, even though I was FI.

I'm making some changes to my car in the next month or so and if you want to buy my plates shoot me a PM. (I'm changing power adders and won't need them anymore)
