Default Spark Plugs installed.

I had new Autolite sparkplugs installed. I didn't want to go through the hassle and do them myself, so I took it to an independent Auto Repair shop. I know the owner and he does great work. The cheapest he could get the plugs were 13.00 each, a little expensive, but with parts, labor and tax the total was only $180.00. I looked online for the dealer price and the estimated cost was $294 to $325. Oh! and none of the sparkplugs broke.

I got a set of Brisk one piece plugs, and they only ran 80 for the set, and DIY'd the install.

A little PB Blaster and a LOT of patience... and you would have been fine... I got mine out, no issues at all.

I probably could have done it myself, but I didn't want to put up with the hassle of a broken plug.

I can understand that... but $180 bucks? Wow... that makes me wanna punch the dealer guy in the face if they told me that.

Wish me luck. Plugs should be here tomorrow. I've read all of the threads and patience is the key.

PB Blaster... and a WHOLE lot of patience man. Take your time.

It's gonna sound like a shrieking 6 year old girl coming out of there... but don't FORCE it... if it starts to get a little tight, slow down... spray a little more PB... let it soak, and you will be fine.

I am thinking about doing them myself this weekend as well. Just got some Champion one piece plugs. I just hit 60,000 on the odometer. The Ford dealership told me if I supplied the plugs it would cost $170.00. Do you think I should do it on my own with that many miles or pay the 170 and have the dealership do it. Also, do my plugs come pre-gapped or do I need to gap them myself? If so, what gap?

With 60K miles, be REAL careful man. Read the TSB and follow it to the letter. Just take your time. The search function can be your friend in this matter.
If they'll do it for $170 and that includes removing any plugs they break, might not be a bad deal.
I'm using the Champions gapped to .044" and the car has been running great for 20K+ miles.
Good luck.

When I did mine had no issues, followed the TSB let them soak for 3 hours, then turned them a little at a time. Turned out 1/4 turn, back in 1/8, just a take your time, and it seems to work.
