And if you'd have gotten on it for much more than 3 miles, it might not have any rods either.

Anytime the intake air is modified/changed from stock (filter and/or CAI) the Mass Air Flow into the engine will change which in turn will not give an accurate representation of the engine Load. This in turn will upset the amount of fuel and spark that is being delivered to the engine.

It is true that the programming is adaptive to learning but only within an approx. 25% error.

If your serious about wanting your Mustang to run better than stock then find a good MF tuner and purchase a CAI/SCT Tuner Combo.

I recommend either JLT/SCT or C&L/SCT cost is approx. $700 - $800 and would include 3 of your favorite tunes. Most tuners provide very good service after the sale.

I did the JLT/SCT combo. Big difference. Got a 93 octane performance as well as a 93 octane economy tune. All for $530 at my door. Really flattened out the torque curve as well as added punch. All Ford's are notorius for being set to "near lean" from the factory. A stand alone CAI makes it worse, and in some cases with the wrong tune, REALLY causes problems.

A CAI that does not require a tune is not worth the money IMHO.
Some do and some dont require a tune.
Its all about the cross section area around the MAF/IAT sensor.
Same cross section size as OEM and no tune required.
Bigger and more air flow at the MAF/AIT sensor and the PCM
requires you to remap the fuel tables to account for the increased
airflow of the bigger than OEM CAI.

All of my knowledge with CAI / tuners has been with Ford trucks and lots of them. From what I am getting with a Mustang tuner is that "custom tunes" are much easier to get and support. I was really concerned with "drone" when I got mine. The tuner guys told me that was not a problem. I am getting much better results with a custom tune over a canned tune. If you have a problem with a Ford truck I can help, but with the Mustang, I am leaning on all ya'll!!!!!!!!!
