3rd gear rattle...
So I had the dealership install the new hurst shifter for the 4.6L V8 on my 07 stang so that I didn't void the warrenty doing it myself. For about 1500 miles it was fine. A little notchy sometimes but I think thats how its supose to be. About 800 miles ago I started getting this rattle in 3rd gear only. I figured it was the stop bolt that was loose and rattling against the shift arm when in gear. (the shifter also sits all the way to the left side of the housing and has made a small tear in the leather boot from the 1 to 2 shift) So I take it in about a week ago and they say that it is installed properly and can't be center it up at all, and that they backed out the stop bolt as much as they could. Well it went away for about a day and is back now. The car seems to drive fine. Third gear is strong and the engine sounds ok when I romp on it. Any ideas what could be causing the rattle? I am just concerned that I could be doing damage to the tranny or somthing else, or that the damn thing is going to fall out in the middle of a long trip.
Thanks for the input guys.

Thanks for the input. I spoke with Hurst and they said to make sure the neopreen isolators were install on those bolts too as they are intended to dampen any noise/vibration.
I'll take a look tonight or tomorrow.
