Default Clutch has had a enough..... but already?

ok guys, need suggestions on some new clutchs. my clutch is already slippin from 3rd-5th gear at around 4k-5k rpm..... now i dont know why the fack its already failing....... it is seeing around 460hp-420ft lbs of torque right now but ive heard from alot of other guys the stock clutch can handle this kinda power for a decent amount of use.... rigth now my clutch also has around 7500 miles on it which is even more confusing for the failure..... anyway, any input on a new setup is helpful. right now, im leaning toward a spec stg 2 kit with new slave and maybe a new steel flywheel...... thanx guys

Same problem here: the stock clutch is now dying after only 10K with the Whipple HO. Could other FI stang owners report on how long they were able to keep their stock clutch? I am now considering upgrading with a Centerforce.

Had Stock clutch give out (Bad Slipping) on Dyno pull after installing Whipple.
Had no problem prior to this. I Went with a Spec Twin Disk clutch with billet aluminum flywheel...all one unit.

I just ordered the Mcleod RST Twin Disk Clutch with a Fidanza flywheel. Should be a stout setup.

I would suggest a cup of coffee and a few hours using the search tool. Tons of valuable info on clutches in here.

Good luck!
I have the Spec 2 and it performs well, but it doesnt act or feel like stock.

I was proactive. Replaced my clutch with a SPEC about 500 miles before doing the supercharger install. If I did it again, I'd get the Mcleod instead. (Not that there is anything wrong with the SPEC, I just didn't like their customer service.)

I wonder if the stock torque converter has the same life expectancy when going FI.. I would believe so, in the presence of hard burn outs/launches at the track.
