Default tips, tricks, advice for a new 05 GT owner

so far the car has major suspension/handling work done, 4:11 gears, drag radials, a bama 87 octane performance tune, and an air intake upgrade.

i want to make my car a monster, without ripping the rear seats out, putting a full cage in it, or replacing much of the motor internals.

so far im looking at throwing the mammoth Kenne Bell kit on top of this motor and calling it a day.

so please help me out with some suggestions:
A. what would be the cheapest to more expensive upgrades for HP gains
B. what would be at the top of your own 'to do list'
C. misc things that the 05+ mustangs have issues with that i should look out for
D. anything that isnt life threatening, yet would do the car some good

isn't the Edlebrock E-force larger then the mammoth KB? I remember hearing something about that...

if I wear you, judging by your description- I'd throw a blower on and call it a day.

Of course a clutch and a one peice driveshaft.

IF you are planning on going FI, consider a larger TB, cams, LT's, O/R X or H pipe (hi flow cats if you need them) and some suspension mods to hook up. If staying NA, the TB won't add any power.

For a list of TSB's, How-To's, etc., read the stickies in the main 2005-2011 forum plus the stickies in the sub forums. One of the biggest issues with the earlier models is the infamous water leak. There's a TSB on it.

Nitrous is allways an easy way to add big power. Notice how I didn't say "cheap" (you never want to go "cheap" with nitrous!). I think you're on the right path with the KB. They're a great power adder, and I think you'll be pretty happy with it.

If it hasn't been done yet, get those 2 piece spark plugs out of there!

so please help me out with some suggestions:
A. what would be the cheapest to more expensive upgrades for HP gains

Spray would be the cheapest. If you want to go FI go with a Saleen SC from Brenspeed, Whipple or 2.6 KB don't even bother with the mammoth way overkill for a stock block mustang

Saleen, Whipple, and KB all have kits available with tunes that will at least get you running until you can get a custom tune.

B. what would be at the top of your own 'to do list'
FI of course

C. misc things that the 05+ mustangs have issues with that i should look out for
Clutch issues. Replace the clutch when you go FI and don't go cheap on the clutch Mcleod RST twin disc is the way to go along with a Mcleod flywheel

D. anything that isnt life threatening, yet would do the car some good

the highest pump octane gas you can find tune if for that and don't run anything other than that, unless you mix some 100 octane race gas with the pump gas.

No, I mean the OEM Motorcraft plugs. They often seize in the head and break, leaving a piece in the head upon removal. Do a search on this, there's lots of info on the boards. This was an on going problem from '05 until mid '08 when Ford changed the head design.

seriously. plugs can be a pain. replace them asap with one piece. here's my tutorial.

https://mustangforums.com/forum/4-6l...placement.html

If you're planning on goin FI, i'd prolly go with the colder plugs by brisk.

have fun! take your time on plugs
