PLEASE don't forget the Torsen posi unit! This adds no labor when you are doing a gear and bearing change!! This makes a huge difference in forward traction as well as turns and balanced braking. Plus FRPP bought about 1000 of these things bringing the price down to less than $600 for a $1100 diff.
We've been installing 4.10's and blower/turbos for over 15 years on Mustangs and trust us, you're gonna love it! The control arm relocation brackets and RLCA's will help dramatically as well as new tires. Go with a 10" wide rear rim and put a 285 or 295 in the back as well.
The next trick is learning to launch the car. Be prepared to chew through a set of tires!!

Change that!!! If you have an automatic you gotta run 3.90's or 3.73's. We had a test mule S197 auto with a ton of mods that went through about 10 variations of power/suspension set ups. We had 4.10's and like you said, the 2/3 shift was far too fast. With the gear ratios in the stick the 4.10's work great. But after driving this car for 6 months and testing the different gear sizes in real world conditions, you will be happier with 3.90 or 3.73 and the car will feel faster and be faster with the longer 2nd gear.

I still have my stock gears in the closet collecting dust.. I would go 3.73s but still think that may be too much with all that power and stock suspension..
