I don't know about the Toyotas, but in my case - it was definitely was the floor mat. With the engine off, I could slowly push the pedal to the floor and it would catch on the edge of the mat. Please try to be a little less of a tool.

I don't see what the problem is here.

That's really scary.....a gas pedal stuck on a floormat could turn ugly really fast.

Right. It's a little different to have a 300 HP Mustang at full throttle rather than a Prius.
Even worse, my buddy with a GT500 had this happen too. That would have made me find religion.

Chill dude. It was a joke. It's what Toyota tried to blame on their problem in the first place. Don't need to get so uptight.

As a matter of fact, my 83 GT's pedal stuck under the mat when I had those stinkin metal covers on them. That happened twice, then bye bye.

Thanks for all the replies. The dealership said it was the aftermarket floor mats. Took them out and put the stock ones in and no problem since. Live and learn. Won't make that same stupid mistake again.

And this is why god invented emoticons

And OP, at lest you didn't panic and call 911 to find out what to do. i don't think the police cruisers could catch a run away GT to pull in front and slow them down like a Prius.
