I wonder what the oil content for the supercharger is?? maybe I can add something to it to make it more durable during the winter and less prone to the cold conditions???

That is B.S.
They should have made that info VERY clear before you purchased it if you ask me.

Then again if they did they might cut their sales down a crap load.

You would figure they would come out with some sort of kit or something for this issue themselves though.
Not doing that is just flat out lazy if you ask me.

Thats true. I read the install cover to cover for MONTHS before purchasing it, and only until I installed the kit and cleaning out the box did I notice the little envelope for the warranty and warning/maintence packet at the bottom of the huge box. If I had known about this issue, I would have went with the E-Force or supershaker.

From what I gathered, this kit should be okay because its self lubricated and not the externally lubed one. I almost went a step backwards thinking that if I converted it to externally lube and use an oil pan warmer would fix it.. not! Its because during cold weather, the oil is too thick and not flowing to the supercharger unit (external lubed,oil tap w/line) and on start up, theres no oil= boom!

Since mine already has oil in it, it should be okay. negative 25 is pretty friggin' cold anyways.. hasn't been that cold since the mid 90s up here, getting warmer actually. -10 is the coldest it's been...

Ok, I live in Ohio, gets pretty cold in the winter, I had "0" problems with my V3 all winter. Now, I will say that when I have started it up when it was cold out, I let it run for a few before going. And lastly, I was rarely in boost, if you take it easy on the motor, the motor will take care of you.

I can't possibly imagine taking the S/C on and off every spring/fall....god that would suck.

Is this just with the Vortech or does this happen with other superchargers as well? Just wanting to know because I'm in the market and just got an assignment to southwest Illinois and I know it gets cold there.

How cold does it get where you are?
The issue with cold has more to do with mechanical clearances and less with the oil itself.

I never had any issues in the winter, but then again, it doesn't get that cold in this part of Texas in the winter.
