Tough call. It would cost about the same either way, but the supercharger would give you the HP advantage dollar for dollar.

the 05 GT is book at $12,250 trade in value, not saying that's what yours is worth but that's book. so that leaves you at least $20,000 short of buying an 11 GT. if you just want a new car then cool do what you want, but modding your current car will always be cheaper than buying a new car.

Where did that book value come from? That would have to be a high mileage low condition GT. Still, it's always better to sell privately than to trade.

I went to kbb.com and put in 12,000 miles a year for the mileage as a guess so 60,000 miles total and 4 stars as the condition since you'll never get the 5 star price. that's the trade in value, private party was $2,000 higher if I remember right. I may have missed some options but it's still going to be so much less in value than the 11 and modding the 05 will still be cheaper. the original statement was that the 05 on trade plus the money that would be spent on a supercharger would be the same as the 11 and that's not the case, the 11 will still be almost $10,000 more.

my 09 has already dropped down to about $20,000 when I was looking into the possibility of trading it for a GT500 and that was when my car had 5,000 miles on it. the market is flooded with our cars and it's an "old" body style already with the 10 body style change and now the 11's new motor. with the 5.0 coming out the 10's and older will be even less desirable from a resale point of view.

if you want to trade or sell your car for the 11 GT and you get more than book then that's great! but don't get your hopes up too high that's all. but everyone's situation is different and if you want the new GT even though it costs you a chunk of change out of pocket then it's up to you and not the forum

does anyone know if the 5.0 motor is built on the same modular platform as the 4.6? as in will certain parts from the 5.0 drivetrain fit the 4.6? that 6-speed tranny is sounding yummy right about now.

I'm not suggesting that a 4.6L will beat a 5.0L, but we all knew that the overall driver train ratios are much higher in the new 5.0L... If we were to put the same driver train ratio of the 5.0L in the 4.6L, wouldn't the 4.6L not be blown away as much?

honestly, the new 5.0s are bad *** and all but if the prices of the S197 goes down, I might get me another one.. with a MANUAL transmission.

I love my auto GT, but I miss driving a 5 speed! Heck.. I'll even take a sixxer for $10k if they had them lol

*cough* X-charger *cough*

lol hell yeah it would. it would also be bad *** if we could get the heads off of the 5.0 and fit them on the 4.6 somehow. make it a 4v 4.6 motor. haha. i heard that it was possible to take the old 2v motors and do a 4v swap. so maybe its possible? hopefully? pleeeaaase god? lol.
